Special Education Workshops and Resource Library
One of the difficulties parents face during IEP meetings is uncertainty. They may question if the school is being fair or offering the appropriate resources. A parent may feel that she is her child's only advocate at a table occupied by half a dozen school administrators and teachers who are trained by the school district.
Our office can help parents prepare for IEP meetings. We offer special education workshops for parents to learn about the law. We also have a resource library with books on assessments, education tips, different disabilities, and community resources. Both classes, books and an individual consultation can help so that parents can go into IEP meetings with more confidence.
Workshops:
Find Your Voice: Understand how Public Schools Can, Should and are Required by Law to Meet the Special Needs of your Child. Classes are offered monthly and start in September. Call for times and dates.
Where Do We Go From Here? Community, College and Transition for the Young Adult with Special Needs. Call for times and dates.
Do You Suspect Your Child Might Have a Developmental Disability? Learn the basics of getting an assessment and early intervention services. They really can make a difference in your child's development and your own peace of mind.
All of our classes are presented live in our office or by teleconference. We are also happy to arrange a presentation in advance with your group (church groups, CACs and Moms Clubs, for instance.)
